Interpersonal conflicts, forced terminations, personal & spiritual attacks; crisis, abuse and mental illness counseling–most, if not all, of these events become a part of every ministry family’s lives over the course of their time serving God’s church. With these experiences come so many emotions and thoughts. Many of these have lifelong effects on our husbands as pastors, on us as pastor’s wives and on our children.
Is this trauma in ministry? Can I really call those things trauma? Do I really need to talk about all those negative emotions? Some of these emotions don’t feel very spiritual. I’m ashamed of some of the things I’ve thought and said at times about people in our church, even though I’m supposed to love them!
All of these are questions you may have asked at one point or another in your life in ministry. I know I have! That’s why I’m so excited about the upcoming opportunity we have of discussing this subject of Trauma in Ministry with Ministry Coach and Trauma Healing Facilitator/Trainer Kristen Joy Humiston. From the first time I met her I sensed her compassionate spirit, her love for God and his people and a deep compassion for those who have been wounded in ministry. You can learn more about her at https://theministrywifecoach.com.
Be sure to mark your calendars Saturday, February 18th, 8amPT/9amMT/10amCT/11amET for a Trauma in Ministry workshop with Kristen as our guest speaker. Following her presentation there will be a time for Question and Answer, , moderated by the Flowers for the Pastor’s Wife team. It could be one of the best hours you spend this month. Watch for the link on the Facebook Community Group for Flowers:https://www.facebook.com/groups/1651074788532765
Feel free to share the link with anyone in ministry that would benefit from this time together. We look forward to seeing you there.
